Mod Squad, can you sticky this?

Hey everyone, I may be alone here, but as this forum gains popularity I'm having a hard time keeping track of who is from where.  I started this thread so we can all introduce ourselves and so new members can make their presence known.  I suggest a standard format so everything is organized... since it fits the stereotype.

Real name
Area of study
School and years attended
If alumni, what you do now
Years your school has done baja
Years you have done baja

I'll go first:

Nice to know you all.

I study Electro-Optics/Lasers at Monroe Community College, one of a handful of community colleges in Baja SAE with a top 50 showing each year. I'm a mechanical engineering grad from University at Buffalo where I studied for 4.5 years. UB established UB Motorsports in 1984 but I had no affiliation with them while there. At MCC, we've been developing the program for 10 years now. I've been on the team for 2 years and designed mostly. Co-captain for 1 year, captain now till I'm completely corrupted.

The modern team has been around since 99ish. We were around in the early days too and even hosted a race, but I'm not sure of the details.

This is my fourth year. They've finally stopped calling me rookie. Well, mostly . . .

I designed the body panels among other things for the 08-10 cars that attracted quite the paparazzi and was Captain last year. It's been an unbelievable ride from the disaster of Montreal my freshman year to winning in Rochester and establishing ourselves as a successful program with 4 straight top 10 finishes now.

Second year actively involved in BAJA SAE, 3rd and final year coming next.  Currently Team Captain, and Lead designer.  We have a small, new team so most of the load for design is placed on myself while I get the freshmen/sophomores up to speed. Myself and another Junior are the main builders.

Been around this kind of stuff ever since I was little.  Hopefully I will be able to contribute both on the forums and at the competition helping out.  If any of you guys see a 35' Toyhauler with a big, blue "M" on the back in the Washingtong pits, come by and say hi!  I'll be the guy with the beard, hat, glasses.

Not sure how long the team's existed here. I think it was started sometime in the eighties (according to vague campus rumor) but it's very hard to find solid information.

My first year on the team. Lovely little small team, recovering rapidly from a near-extinction event so there are lots of holes to fill.

Old Dominion University 2010+
4th year on the team 3rd year as captain and 2nd as team leader+lead designer.
ODU has been participating in Baja since 1981 i believe. (aka the first+last time we won a Baja race)

Small team with limited funding, but we throw away our lives at it every year. Will be going on our 7th straight year of building a new car and competing with it. Design falls mostly on myself with help of some alumni and others while i focus on rebuilding the team as most of us are about to graduate.

Hi Baja Forum, my is Dave Hoerner. I am a senior at Buffalo State College in the MET program. I hung around Baja last year, but this is my first official year and I am captain of a good team. I am not sure how many years my school has been doing this, maybe 11 or 12, but I could be wrong. I have a bit of auto experience which I hope can help me here. Look forward to a challenging year, but having fun while doing it!
