I'm sure there have to be some cars or trucks on here that you guys have built other than Baja.

Post vehicles you've built/modified!

I'll start: 1994 Chevy S-10 4x4, lowered 4/5, on Vette C6 18x8.5s.  This is my daily driver.

My friend Brian's Ranger: 8" suspension lift, 3" body lift, 36" Super Swamper TSLs.  This was a trail-only rig that is now destroyed thanks to a roll-over.

When I was in high school I had an extremely clean '82 El Camino with a 305 in it.  The cam wore out, so while I had it apart I put a Crane cam, Edelbrock intake and 600 cfm 4 barrel carb, and HEI ignition on it and really woke up the old engine.  It had a cool little storage space behind the seats and under the bed that was about 3' deep where the spare tire and stuff was stored.  I got tired of the two 3.5" speakers that came stock in the car so I put a little boom da boom back there in the storage space. Evil Smile

The box for the two 8" subs and two 6x9's.

All put together and getting wired up.

In the car.

This is my latest money pit.  I bought it as a rolling chassis and put a 135 hp 670cc twin in it, rewired the whole thing, and moved the rear suspension down and back to make room for a 144"x2" track.

Fitting the engine for the first time.

Took some time away from baja and went to the Snowies in Wy. over spring break.

This was my first car. Bought it when I was 17. Sold it last summer.

1998 V6 Camaro. By the time I was done with it, it had:
T-top conversion
A nice adjustable suspension setup
New V6 built by yours truly. High compression, P&P heads, upgraded cam.
Custom exhaust, from shorty headers back to dumped true duals
3.73s and LSD  (gear installs suck a lot!)
Lightweight driveshaft, exedy clutch, upgraded T-5 with kevlar coated synchros, heavy duty bearings, short shifter
Tune with wideband and HPtuners by myself

Fast, fun car. I miss it still. Confused

Video from after the motor build:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMdRV9ZHH3M

I picked up a 1985.5 Porsche 944 is sorry shape last summer:

It looks more like this now:

I guess I don't have some sweet wheelin' truck, but I really don't like mud. It's still probably faster then just about anything else until it hits 80... Right now it just has the re-done front suspension. The arms are awesome, but the shocks suck, new ones are on order from Elka. Also got a Hot-Cams Stage 2 for her and HRC exhaust. Crappy cell phone picture:

Not super pretty, but it's what's on the inside that counts, right?

Much prettier, but much much much slower, in a straight line. It's my dad's car, but I've got a considerable amount of time in it.

My summertime DD, it's currently getting fresh paint after an encounter with a deer.

How I like to spend my time in the dirt.

I don't have a good picture of it, but I also have a '77 280z that's got the turbo motor from an '83 zx with megasquirt. It's about 90% ready to run, but I can't seem to motivate myself to work on it.

The Mustang had too much to list.  I was a detailer for years, and the car was 13 years old at the time the pictures were taken:

This is the current car, have done mostly cosmetic stuff to it like a new billet grill, clear corners and headlights.  Car is staying stock

Don't have many good pictures of my bike; but this is my daily driver and weekend trail ripper.  It started life as a stock 1995 Suzuki DR350.  I bored the engine out to 441cc, ported the head and installed oversize valves, zero-decked the cylinder and milled the head to get 12:1 compression ratio, installed a high-lift cam and hard welded rockers, made a custom intake spacer to mount a 37mm FCR carb from a yamaha wr250f, chopped off the top of the airbox, and added a BigGun exhaust.  It absolutely rips for an old air-cooled dualsport.  The suspension has been all redone too.  Its got 1996 RM250 twin-chamber conventional showa forks, and the forks and rear shock have all Racetech internals that I have setup to my preferences.  The picture doesn't show it, but its also got a 3.5 gallon IMS fuel tank on it now too, so I've got a decent range.  Its a great sleeper bike when I go to the local timekeeper enduros or harescrambles; nobody expects it to be fast cause it still looks like a fairly stock bike, but it'll darn near keep up with the new 450's in a drag race; only the tone of the exaust gives it away.  And I ride it to school everyday; its got 35000 miles I've put on it over the last 3.5 years.

Card Board Sled Derby at local ski resort. Built this back in High School. Could only use cardboard, paper, string, glue, and tape. Spoiler was friends idea. We actually built a frame underneath it and it could hold two people before it would flex. This thing could actually steer and has brakes!

This is my 1984 4-runner.  We have always had it in our family since we bought it new in 84.  It's actually in more pieces than this right now, since I've put a truetrac in the front and a detroit in the rear, as well as working towards going high-steer.  Also going from carb to megasquirt efi...  It's gonna be a while till she's up and running again...

Here's my station wagon.  It was never supposed to come to this...  But I got stuck.  4" of lift later and tires that are 8" taller then stock and this things now a tank.  It's got a hi-low transfer case so theres torque when you need it out of the 4 cylinder.  Tires are Kumho mt's

Rims are toyota 6 bolt rims redrilled to the subaru pattern(car came with 13's and they don't make 15s).

I've got a 1974 Nova SS with a fully built 383 stroker, stage 3 turbo 350, etc but it looks pretty rough right now.  I'm just doing the bodywork on it.

Ya its got FWD, 4wdHi and 4wdLow.  I put the lift kit on back in september but didn't get the tires on it until a few weeks ago.  Right after I got the tires on we were hit by an insane blizzard over the course of 2 days.  I spent 8 hours driving around my neighbourhood pulling people out.  There was atleast 12" of snow everywhere and some drifts were as high as 6 feet.  I didn't get stuck once and had a blast.

I can't wait to try it out in the mud this summer.  I took it mudding when it was stock and it was sweet.  The stock tires sucked.  I'm planning to build a set of tube doors for it and a tire swing out with beer flag on the rear bumper (monster truck style overtop of the hatch).

Built this for ENME304 - Machine Design.

It's a drill powered vehicle. Being Baja guys, we went a little overboard and gave it a center of gravity below the whee center plane, mad amounts of camber, six batteries hooked up to relays to switch from the dial on the steering wheel, and an electronically controlled CVT. Powered it with the biggest 18V drill DeWalt has ever made.

Weighed a ton because the thinnest tubing we could get for free was 1.25 - .069, but man was it awesome.

So I know there is a summer fun thread but I know I have multiple side projects at any time of the year.

So what does everyone drive and have on the side as projects (if they are different).

This is one DD that we (me and bf) have.. 'Interesting' is a good word for it:

motor swapped to d16zc (not big on the b series hype)
front end conversion
car was multiple colors when i got it.. gave it to a friend and said have fun.. got it back like that
the gold wheels came after 2 messed up sets of white wheel (potholes hate me).. they were different and matched the pinstripe
other: short ram intake, full exhaust, suspension, flywheel, etc etc

it gets 35 mpg and has a targa.. fun to drive.. thinking about getting it repainted frost white if i can find time to give it up for a few days

next DD:

nismo crap everywhere.. i'm not a big fan of everything but it all has proven to serve a purpose.. its actually a little lower now thanks to hotchkiss

new projects:

92 supra and 87 supra.. 92 is mine.. 87 is bf's
currently have the POS 7m in them.. mine is getting a 1jz and he is between an LS and a 1j

old project that i'm selling now:

84 b2000.. got bored and though sticking a built 302, c4, and 8.8 rear in it would be fun

so what do you guys play with in your spare time?

Yea, the search function for this site is terrible.  I figured you didn't know that thread existed.

Yes, the search function is less than optimal. Pinch

Looking at some options to help it out.

Almost stock, but a 13b-t or a 13b-re is planned for future. I don't have much time to work on it for now.

Posted this in Summer Fun, but this seems to be a better collector. Probably should be it's own section...

1990 Miata

Currently burning a quart of 10W-30 every 200 miles, despite only having 92,000 miles on the clock Angry Previous owner must have neglected to change the oil, like, ever.Censored

In search of a 1.8L donor for a transplant at some point in the future. For now, 20W-50 it is.

Alittle bit different than what everybody else is doing.

1974 Chevy Impala Wagon, went through 16 heats, won 3. Now it is a toy car.

Mopar, Ran it in memory of a family friend. 4th place local fair. Built it in 3 days.

1974 Chevy impala. Ran at Metal Mayhem. Red #7 sedan.
