In the rules it says it must be metal and .02" thick. We use aluminum because of it's weight compared to steel. Thickness is up to you. We use no less than .04", anything thinner bends after a little time in the car and looks bad once it does. Although you could use thinner and just replace it after each race.

We don't run a separate belly pan. We have a floor which is part diamondplate, part carbon fiber, part ABS plastic. The rules don't require metal for the belly pan, but there are some things not allowed. It just has to protect the driver from stuff.

Powertrain guards there are specific rules. They dont have to be metal, but if they are not steel you need calculations to prove equal rupture strength. Unless its an unmodified Polaris CVT cover.

We use .020" Al for our firewall, it resonates pretty good when the engine is running but other than that it does its job.  It doesn't bend at all if you attach it right and it is probably the lightest thing to use.
