Hey guys, I am a bit confused whether to go for double row roller bearing or double row deep groove ball bearings.
Roller will provide good shock loading capacities ( required for bumps) but no axial load bearing capacity at all.

Can some one throw some light on the selecting procedure and how to go about it?
I searched for it but didn't find any topic dedicated to wheel bearing selection.

Neither.

Tapered roller bearings will be the best.  If sized properly (i.e. HUGE) ball bearings CAN work, but will not last long.

Several years ago (2008ish) Polaris had a problem with a bad batch of bearings that were used through the sponsorship program.  Because of those problems, my team switched to tapered rollers (like most cars use) and hasn't had problems since.

Rohan. Take a deep breath and step back. Try and compose your posts using readable English without text speak. Elaborate on what you're trying to achieve. Else, the banhammer beckons.

Hello Guys
Need help regarding the locking of a tapered roller bearing.

After selecting Tapered roller bearing for the wheel assembly the problem we are facing is the locking of the bearing. Even after the bearing is press fit on spindle, there is *play* in the wheel assembly which should not be there, we even tried the commercial (lock nut, castle nut locking) still the play isn't going.

Our setup for front is like spindle is press fit on knuckle and then locked from other side through a nut and then the hub and bearing are press fit on the spindle and at the end hole setup is locked using lock nut

Are you using a single, single row tapered roller bearing per hub or 2 bearings per hub? what brand bearing are you using? a single, single row bearing will often times have play in it, and will not take forces acting axially in 2 directions. couple this with a low quality bearing, and your in for disaster. best to make sure your using high quality bearings, and either double row bearings or opposed bearing sets. Hope this helps.

We are using high performance NTN tapered roller bearing for front hub in the above mentioned setup.
Also can we use a single, single row tapered roller bearing and use the commercial locking system ?

tapered roller bearings and angular contact ball bearings are only designed to take axial load in one direction. wheels see axial load in both directions, therefore you need double row opposed, or an opposed bearing set. do some reading and you'll get it figured out. many companies have application and design guides that can help you out.
