They won mud bog and sled pull(I believe) at Wisconsin '09.  The problem was that their wheels were narrowed and welded car wheels that split in half during endurance.

I hope you guys enjoy the Maneuverability / Suspension and Handling course.  Spent all day making it fun for you!

Big hand to Darren Johnson for busting his hump preparing the track.

They have been running those tires since 09 (at least). They did win mud bog and pull in Wisconsin 09. They had some issue in Rochester 10 (something about not bringing a float comes to mind) and last year they had huge brake test problems in Kansas and I am not sure if they ever passed. The 2009 car was the best I have seen from them for sure.

Mcgill got a 7.4s. Laval and OSU(?) did 5.9s or so. Very unofficial numbers. The captain for this year called me to update me at work Tongue . They said that it was drizzling lightly but muddy.

Its a longer 150 ft (maybe 140 ft) acceleration run.  Could explain the times.  I locked up good on the test run Wednesday.
The rain comes at 2-8 PM today but Sunny all tomorrow.

In 2009, it rained right before comp and the track did not have time to dry and I think they had to change the course last minute. Hopefully, it's not too bad this year.

I'd expect 5.0-5.3 in the 150 out front on a high traction surface, maybe breaking into the 4's on 140.  With some mud/bumps the 5.9 range sounds about right.

Anyone know how endurance went? I saw RIT was pretty happy with how dynamics went yesterday via their twitter. Are Laval and OSU dominating like usual or have other teams been doing better in all the mud and hail?

For the cars that could make it through, rock crawl became a speed event. We have to lock and unlock the differential for sections so its harder to hammer through.

4 for 8 with a 2nd and 3rd place in there too. They didn't go to Auburn 12 and got 20-something in Rochester 10 due to some endurance issues with the water

Rochester 2010 was a mess for us with a 21st place. Except that, since 2010 things are doing very good!

I would like to thank the organizers for the good competition. They had to deal with bad weather the whole week and still put it together very well. The statics were well organized, the dynamics were very challenging and nice to drive (rock crawl was pretty scary!) and the banquet was awesome.

As for the endurance, considering they used plan B, I think they did a pretty good job. They probably ran into time issues but there could have been more obstacles in the course and the straight lines could have been wider so less sketchy overtake would have happened. Other than that it was still a very good and challenging event.

Big thank again to the organizers and congrats to every team that showed up!

All,

Thanks for the kind words.  It was very challenging for the organizing committee to deal with the weather.  We would have liked to create a longer course with more wider passing areas, unfortuanltey we had to use Plan B.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, what do you think could have been done better?  You can be as harsh as you want, as Engineer's we all learn from our failures, and that includes organizing an event.

I also want to know what went well, because we like to carry those items forward.

Washougal's course photographer was present at the rock crawl, and endurace track.  Enjoy the pictures, he did an awesome job.

Thanks for helping to create a great event.

That is quite the drop off between 2nd and 3rd place. Laval and OSU really killed it.
