Has anyone ever rerouted the starter rope to the cockpit? Is Briggs okay with us re-riveting the starter rope housing turned 90*? I'd rather pop those rivets than make some kind of pulley system. Thanks.

I've seen a few teams with starters and even choke levers routed into the cockpit. As for the starter housing, we've turned ours to point in a more useful direction and haven't had any problems with tech.

The starter rope can be lengthened to extend into the cockpit, and the rivets can be drilled out and replaced with bolts for easier rope access. We weld bolts in and just use nylocks.

Ok, finially got around to registering for this madnes...
We even went so far in the past as to weld a 4 little 1/4-20 bolt to the sheet metal cover and then bolt the starter assembly on with nylocks from the outside. Lets you change the pull assembly out without removing the side cover on the engine. Never had a problem with Briggs on it.

Anyone care to share how they grommeted their holes? Rubber will be too high in friction, and we tried a nylon bushing that deteriorated really quick. Duct tape is out of the question and a pulley is unfavorable.

We just used some plastic wire wrap on the aluminum. I think. Last time we tried remote start was Auburn 2006. It just has to be sealed enough so a bunch of fuel wouldn't splash through. It doesn't need to be super sealed.

Hmm cool. We got punked by tech last year because a grommet on our gear shifter 'might, or might not' allow fuel through. Redid it once, almost had to do it twice until Jason came over and looked at the dude and told him it was fine... Slightly frustrating haha. Guess I'm a little paranoid. I'll let ya know what we come up with. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, it's always going to come down to the individual T.I. Maybe have a roll of flashing tape on hand to seal it up more. Also maybe a bottle of water to splash at the hole in case of question.
