damping for variable rate springs |

we are planning to use dual rate springs this year. so can i effectively dampen its motion by just using a normal damper rather than a variable rate damper?(as they cost a significant amount of $$$).if i can then it would be really helpful if you can point me in the right direction!

yes, I believe that you can use a single type of valve stack. I would read this article, helped me a bunch. |

thnx bud helps a lot! i have a further question.. do i need a helper coil? all i know is that it keeps the spring in contact, is there any other use? and do we need it as our wheel travel is only 10in

Not sure if you mean by helper spring. Usually in a dual rate setup there is a tender spring and a main spring separated by a crossover piece. I would do a little research on google and with the article I linked.

Running dual rate doesn't mean you don't need variable damping any more. Look at most desert cars and you will see dual rate coilovers paired with a position sensitive bypass shock.
