I apologize in advance if I'm beating a dead horse with this post, I did a little digging through the forums and didn't find an answer. I've been designing a very basic front suspension set up, using unequal length a-arms and I've got most of the dimensions defined. The last dimension I need to figure out is the width of the control arm, the distance between the mounting points. I can't see how that would effect the suspension in any drastic way and it seems to me that the control arm could be as narrow as packaging allows. I'm not going to ask for anyone else's design but just a gentle nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the width will not affect the geometry of the suspension, however it will affect how the loads are transfered to the chassis. keep in mind when deciding on a width, the moment created on the arm during a frontal impact.

Agreed with RLM. With a bit of statics knowledge, you can theorize what happens as points D and E get closer together. And excuse my crude use of snipping tool.
