We're looking at going up to the Dayton invitational, but I'd kinda like to know if anybody else is going before we commit.  Anybody on here have plans to attend?

I'm guessing Ohio State will be there, seeing as its only 45min from our shop. This is assuming they dont break anything in Louisville the previous weekend.

Really poor date choice on Dayton SAEs part.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, but I guess they don't really pay much attention to the other Invite races.  I'm gonna pitch it to our admin to go up there, it looks like it'll be a good time.

Just be prepared for mud. A lot of it. They said it's going to be the same as last time, so that means a shallow, watery mud bog... every lap. Teams were pitting every couple laps for more tearoffs.

Also, anticipate Jason Rounds to be there doing tech. He was last time. Although tech was more lenient than usual.

I look forward to seeing my old buddy Jason.  We'll make sure our car is race ready so that Jason can't hassle us too much...if we make it up.

Also, this is the track (ish), in case anybody is interested. The Mudbog and "pond" can be seen  in the northwest side.

We are considering going as well and will have a final decision before the end of the week.  That mud will definately influence our decision.  Its fun not being able to grip the wheel and having to steer by the spokes ninja chop style.

We are also in the same boat as The OSU as far as breaking parts goes.  Although our race last year was pretty gentle other than a couple of the jumps.

Yeah I wish that the Dayton section could have communicated with us a little better since one of the reasons we started Mayhem was because they didn't have the race again in '08 after '07.  Even so we are lucky to be able to have both events with both parties having contracts with the event sites.

Dayton did they best they could to plan around our event.  They didn't know about our event and we didn't know about theirs.  They originally planned to hold their race on the same weekend as ours.

They found out about our race later and since we had had ours announced (unofficially) for months and couldn't reschedule, they rescheduled.

I strongly advise any school going to the Dayton Invitational to run a splash shield or snorkel and bring lots of goggles and tearoffs.  We had to change our air filter at each pitstop.

Ohio State is in barring any unfortunate incidents at Louisville.

Dayton should be at the Dayton invitational, provided we survive the "Mayhem" the week before.

Provided the course is similar to that of '07, (as those above have already said) prepare for lots of muddy water!  It seems every other car was being black-flagged each lap for unsafe visibility, etc.
