Our motor came in this week!
The new air box design is very nice.

But do we have to keep the metal guard around the exhaust on? or can we remove it?
Thanks

Post some pics! Is the new air box that different?

The air box is clean. Overall i feel its a better design when trying to replace your air filter in the middle of the race. Ill post a picture when i get to campus this evening.

Ooooooooo yeah that's a nice intake, now I see what you mean! Lots of weight savings, gives an unfair advantage! Wink

About the steel cage over the exhaust....technically, the rules don't say anything about it directly. But I'm sure you know if they see it in Briggs/Tech and they know it should be installed, they won't pass you. Briggs has always been cool at competition, but I'd probably play it safe and leave it on there. One less thing to go wrong in Tech. Doesn't look like it's hurting much anyway. Just my $0.02!

I am not sure that is technically allowed (not that anyone would notice or care). I know when they switched the exhaust style a couple years ago, it was illegal to run the old style muffler on the new part number engine.

This is just one more reason to use a removable gas tank.

B12.3 Fuel Tank
B12.3.1 Only a single fuel tank is permitted on the vehicle.  Fuel tanks are restricted to the stock tank provided by Briggs & Stratton.  No holes are allowed in the tank even if they have been repaired.  Fuel pumps may not be used.

If its removable I don't think there would be an issue we have a boat load of the old tanks off of previous cars that are the "stock tank provided by Briggs & Stratton"
